Back to the details.

A small check, a narrow woven panel, a borrowed idea from the wardrobe. Pattern with a lighter hand.

Fictional adult model in an oatmeal knit, her forest-green manicure resting on a curved wooden chair.

A patterned manicure can be as quiet as a plain one if the scale is right. This Monday edit gives each drawing a small territory: the side of a nail, a single panel, a band near the edge. The surrounding colour keeps everything connected.

Rosewood Fine Check

Dark plum and ivory lines create an open check over rosewood. Plain nails give the grid room to breathe.

Oat Woven Light

Fine taupe threads and broken cream crossbars suggest a woven texture over pale oat.

Ink Ivory Weave

Broken black and pearl-grey lines form an airy woven grid against ivory.

Rose Haze Weft

Translucent rose bands and tiny burgundy stitch marks create a soft textile effect.

Espresso Houndstooth

Cocoa houndstooth occupies part of an oat-coloured nail, balanced by luminous espresso neighbours.

Oat Zigzag Weave

Broken zigzag lines in cocoa, ivory and dusty rose cross a narrow caramel-and-oat panel.

Oat and cream make the woven lines feel light. Rose adds warmth to a check. Ink makes the same idea more graphic. Start with a palette that belongs with your clothes, then decide how much pattern you want to see.
